General LG Product Maintenance

To clean and maintain an LG Duct-Free Split System is really quite simple.  To ensure a long-life we recommend you contact a home heating and cooling professional to inspect your LG Duct-Free Split System regularly. We also suggest that you trim the shrubbery around your outdoor unit to ensure that air flows around the unit without impediment.

The indoor unit coils have a self-cleaning functionWith a touch of the auto clean button on the remote or controller, the fan continues to run for half an hour after the cooling operation.  This helps keep the coil dry, removes moisture and prevents mold growth to reduce the chances of accumulating dirt and dust.

In addition, here are a few simple things you can do to help prolong the life and performance of your LG Duct-Free Split System.  To clean the surface of the indoor unit use a soft smooth cloth, perhaps dampened with a little warm water. Never use bleach or abrasives and don’t spray water. We recommend cleaning the air filter regularly because the collected dust and debris may block the airflow and impede proper performance.  If you have pets or live in an area with a lot of pollen and impurities. You may want to start by checking your filter every two weeks.

Before you begin, turn off the power of the unit.  Open the front cover of the unit by lifting up both sides gently, and then swing the lid upward. Be sure that you never touch the metal parts of the air conditioner when you remove the air filter.   Grasp the nob on the filter inside, lift it slightly, and remove it from the unit.  Remove dust and debris from the filter using a vacuum cleaner or rinse the filter with warm water. If the dirt is particularly stubborn or the unit is located in an area where there may be a build-up of grease and cooking residue, wash the filter in lukewarm water with a mild detergent such as a diluted dish-washing liquid and rinse thoroughly. Dry the filter outside but avoid direct sunlight.  Replace it when completely dry.

Some models include a plasma filter which electrically captures and reduces tiny contaminants, such as dust, mites and pet dander.  Every three months or more frequently in high particulate environments it should be inspected and cleaned if necessary. To avoid electric shock, after the unit has been powered off and the inlet grille is opened, wait at least 10 seconds before touching or removing the plasma filter. After removing the air filters, pull slightly forward to remove the plasma filter. Dip the plasma filter into water mixed with neutral detergent for 20 to 30 minutes.  Dry the plasma filter in the shade for a day.  It is especially important that humidity be removed completely from this part. Note the cuts of electric discharge lines. Reinstall the plasma filter to the original position.

These few simple steps can make a big difference in the performance and your enjoyment a few LG Duct-Free air conditioner.  Easy and regular maintenance can prolong the life of your AC system.
