General LG Product Maintenance

To clean and maintain an LG Duct-Free Split System is really quite simple.  To ensure a long-life we recommend you contact a home heating and cooling professional to inspect your LG Duct-Free Split System regularly. We also suggest that you trim the shrubbery around your outdoor unit to ensure that air flows around the unit without impediment.

The indoor unit coils have a self-cleaning functionWith a touch of the auto clean button on the remote or controller, the fan continues to run for half an hour after the cooling operation.  This helps keep the coil dry, removes moisture and prevents mold growth to reduce the chances of accumulating dirt and dust.

In addition, here are a few simple things you can do to help prolong the life and performance of your LG Duct-Free Split System.  To clean the surface of the indoor unit use a soft smooth cloth, perhaps dampened with a little warm water. Never use bleach or abrasives and don’t spray water. We recommend cleaning the air filter regularly because the collected dust and debris may block the airflow and impede proper performance.  If you have pets or live in an area with a lot of pollen and impurities. You may want to start by checking your filter every two weeks.

Before you begin, turn off the power of the unit.  Open the front cover of the unit by lifting up both sides gently, and then swing the lid upward. Be sure that you never touch the metal parts of the air conditioner when you remove the air filter.   Grasp the nob on the filter inside, lift it slightly, and remove it from the unit.  Remove dust and debris from the filter using a vacuum cleaner or rinse the filter with warm water. If the dirt is particularly stubborn or the unit is located in an area where there may be a build-up of grease and cooking residue, wash the filter in lukewarm water with a mild detergent such as a diluted dish-washing liquid and rinse thoroughly. Dry the filter outside but avoid direct sunlight.  Replace it when completely dry.

Some models include a plasma filter which electrically captures and reduces tiny contaminants, such as dust, mites and pet dander.  Every three months or more frequently in high particulate environments it should be inspected and cleaned if necessary. To avoid electric shock, after the unit has been powered off and the inlet grille is opened, wait at least 10 seconds before touching or removing the plasma filter. After removing the air filters, pull slightly forward to remove the plasma filter. Dip the plasma filter into water mixed with neutral detergent for 20 to 30 minutes.  Dry the plasma filter in the shade for a day.  It is especially important that humidity be removed completely from this part. Note the cuts of electric discharge lines. Reinstall the plasma filter to the original position.

These few simple steps can make a big difference in the performance and your enjoyment a few LG Duct-Free air conditioner.  Easy and regular maintenance can prolong the life of your AC system.

How to Change a Picture in the Art Cool Gallery

LG has created a unique Duct- Free air conditioner with the Art Cool Gallery Inverter.  The innovative indoor unit mounts on the wall and is as individual as you are. Because you can display which ever image you like, right here, on the front panel. Change the picture to match your décor, suit your mood or just have fun.

Here’s how to personalize your Art Cool Gallery air conditioner.  Start with a square image up to 20 inches on each side. Use an art print, a photograph or even an original masterpiece by that special kid in your life. If you want to display a smaller image, down to 17 inches, you can use the included mat to add a stylish border.

With your Art Cool Gallery Duct- Free System powered off, open the upper part of the front panel by pulling it toward you, gently but firmly. On the lower portion of the panel, pull on the two locking tabs, and then pull the bottom toward you while pushing the top portion until it closes.  You can now slide the current picture down and out of frame.

If you plan to use the mat, turn it over and open it, carefully peeling the backing away from the adhesive border. Center your new picture on the other side of the mat, and then fold the mat closed, pressing down on of four sides to ensure a secure seal. Now, slide your new picture up in the front panel into the two-hanger clips one on each side.  And slide them up to lock them in place. Push the two locking tabs back in, then press the panel fully back into place.  Lastly, just power it back on and enjoy your air conditioner in a whole new way.
